Koala Weekly News

Dear Koala Kinder Readiness Families,

What’s New This Week

What a great week! We had a blast during Fall Festival Week learning all about harvest vegetables and creating art with the nature items we find during fall.  We even got to choose a pumpkin from our own little PCP pumpkin patch to take home and decorate with our families.  We had a super fun baking project where we made pumpkin shaped sugar cookies that we got to enjoy today with our Giraffe friends.  We also got to practice our fire, earthquake and lock down preparedness this week and all our Koala friends did really well following instructions.  This Saturday is the Harvest festival at PLC.  We hope to see you all there enjoying our festivities, our pumpkin patch and the Nature Hut that will be open for exploration during the festival.

What’s Coming Up Next Week

We will explore some fun ways to create with our hands, engineer loose parts creations and experiment with pumpkins.  We will be learning more about the letter F and practicing our writing skills with mini chalk boards and small pieces of chalk.

Happy Birthday To You

This week we celebrated James birthday in class and in chapel.  Happy Birthday James!

Thank You to Parent Helpers

Thank you so much to Lauren Olschewski (Ellie’s mom), Andrea Bowrin (Reese’s mom), and Andy and Jennifer Wendt (Nathan’s parents) for their contributions and assistance during Fall Festival Week.  We appreciate all you do and thank you for giving your time and resources to make this week special for our Koalas.

Nature Hut News

This week in the Nature Hut we painted with real pumpkins, discussed what is in a pumpkin, and what are some things we can do with pumpkins other than carve them. The children also measured scooped and examined beans in the sensory table. The plants got some much needed watering as well.  It was a fun intro to our Pumpkin Patch and Fall Festival!

DKZ News

After all the clouds filled up with water droplets last week the rain came down in DKZ.  The children enjoyed making rain sticks, rain painting, and doing crayon reset art.  We are still observing how long it’s going to take our water in a cup to evaporate and make its way back up to the clouds.  We found out how many water droplets a cotton ball can hold until it starts to rain.
