Discovery Kids Zone (DKZ)

Discovery Kids Zone (DKZ) is an Afternoon Enrichment Program for children who attend our Explorers Morning Program and our Beginners Morning Program (at age 3). It extends the day into the afternoon from 11:30am - 2:30pm Monday through Thursday.

DKZ is…
…designed to strengthen students’ natural dispositions to learn. When children are engaged and interacting with adults, peers, materials, and their surroundings, they will find greater support in making a better and deeper sense of their own experience and environment.

Through a school year, the children will explore several thematic and project-based enriching activities that are different and distinct from the units and activities of the morning program. Examples of previous projects/units are science, international cooking, ecological awareness, woodworking, and theater (to name a few).

Students immerse themselves in each theme, representing their findings and observations through various activities such as painting, drawing, writing, sensory, construction, speech, gross motor, and dramatic play.

Discovery Kid Zone is offered Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday afternoons as an extension of the morning session, offering a fuller day experience. Students have the opportunity to pack a lunch and eat with their friends at school.
