NAEYC Accredited
For more than 80 years, the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) has worked to raise the quality of programs for all children from birth to age eight. A major part of NAEYC’s efforts is to improve early childhood education through the system of accreditation for programs that are deeply committed to meeting the highest national standards of quality.
Not every school works to achieve this high level of accreditation. Peñasquitos Christian Preschool is proud to be accredited by NAEYC and has maintained that accreditation since 1987.
Average Ratio 1:8
Children at Peñasquitos Christian Preschool thrive in an active learning environment with smaller classes. Our ratios vary between 1:6 and 1:10 based on the program. While some other preschools have a ratio like ours only during ‘instructional times’, we maintain our ratios throughout the entire day for more attention and care. When checking out schools, ask about the ratios and the qualifications of teacher; they matter.
Together in Community
We are more than just a school. This is a place where you feel like family. At Peñasquitos Christian Preschool, we value community. Familiar faces on the playground at morning drop-off become the makings of lifelong friendships.
Parents have the opportunity to connect at weekly chapel, special events, community service projects, fundraisers, Bible Studies, and even a family campout. We get together and have a lot of fun doing it.
How does our school compare to TK (Transitional Kindergarten)?
Consider a recent study in Tennessee by researchers from Vanderbilt University, which studied the outcomes of students who attended programs similar to state Transitional Kindergarten (TK) or Universal Pre-K Programs. These programs have a student teacher ratio as high as 1:24 and are run by local school districts on elementary school campuses. The peer-reviewed study showed that students who attended play-based preschool programs like Peñasquitos Christian Preschool had better academic and behavioral outcomes in grades 3-6. You can read more about this study and its implications in this excellent article from NPR.
In their own voices…
The children of our school are the best at sharing the Peñasquitos Christian Preschool experience. Our school has over 35 years of shared experiences. What story will your child tell of their preschool experience?
