Kinder Academy

Kinder Academy is an Afternoon Enrichment Program for children who attend our Kinder Readiness Morning Program. It extends the day into the afternoon hours from 11:30am - 2:30pm Monday through Thursday.

Kinder Academy…
…enriches the educational experience of our 4 & 5 year old students to best prepare them for the experience of Kindergarten. The extended day helps to acclimate children to the Elementary School schedule. Additional learning opportunities prepare a solid foundation for future educational growth.

Through a school year, the children will explore several thematic and project-based enriching activities that are different and distinct from the units and activities of the morning program. Examples of previous projects/units are science, international cooking, ecological awareness, woodworking, and theater (to name a few).

Students immerse themselves in each theme, representing their findings and observations through various activities such as painting, drawing, writing, sensory, construction, speech, gross motor, and dramatic play.

Kinder Academy is offered Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday afternoons as an extension of the morning session, offering a fuller day experience. Students have the opportunity to pack a lunch and eat with their friends at school.

Kinder Academy focuses on extending mathematical knowledge, using the Froebel gifts (wooden blocks 2-6) and introduced occupations (including sticks, clay, sand, slates, chalk, wax, shells, stones, scissors, paper folding).

Kinder Academy provides extra time using the “Learning Without Tears” method of writing development.
Word knowledge (vocabulary) is introduced by exploring varied resources and materials.
