History & Our Philosophy

Peñasquitos Christian Preschool has been established in the community for over 30 years and is centered on the fundamental principles of human growth and development.

History

Peñasquitos Christian Preschool (PCP) was established by Peñasquitos Lutheran Church (PLC) in September 1985 as an outreach ministry to the families and children of the community. The first school year was 1985-1986.

Our Philosophy

Peñasquitos Christian Preschool’s goal is to provide a quality developmentally appropriate early childhood education experience and to assist parents in their parenting skills in a loving and accepting Christian environment. We see each child as a unique individual entitled to discover God’s world at his or her own developmental level.

Our preschool programs offer age specific hands-on learning activities for physical, social, emotional, cognitive and spiritual growth. We emphasize active learning which takes advantage of children’s natural motivations, abilities and interests. Our children and given endless opportunities to investigate, solve problems, discover relationships and make comparisons. We believe children learn by doing and focus on the process rather than the final product. We offer programs for children ages 18 months through five years.

Peñasquitos Christian Preschool is a state licensed, non profit, interracial and non political institution founded by the Peñasquitos Lutheran Church. The school was started as an outreach of the church into the community and continues with that mission to this day.

Peñasquitos Christian Preschool enjoys ethnic, economic and faith diversity in the families who make up our student body. While we invite people of all races, creeds and backgrounds to apply, we maintain our commitment to be a church related preschool as reflected in our curriculum.

Enrollment is inclusive of, but not limited to, the Peñasquitos Lutheran Church attendees/membership, in accordance with our commitment to ministry and outreach in our communities. Volunteers and staff who support admissions along with the Preschool Administration maintain the responsibility for enrollment in the preschool.
